About Pastor Dietmar

Pastor Dietmar is kind and caring, with a genuine passion for walking alongside people in their faith journey. Helping people discover how God is moving in their lives brings him deep joy, and he finds meaning in getting to know each person in our church community.

His Journey

Originally from Transylvania, Romania (yes, that Transylvania!), Pastor Dietmar grew up as part of the German Lutheran minority there. After beginning his seminary studies in Transylvania, he completed his theological education in Germany and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, Kentucky. He served as a pastor in Germany before moving to the United States in 2002, and has been in ministry at St. Paul's since March 2007.

His Approach to Ministry

Pastor Dietmar believes that some of life's most meaningful conversations happen over a good cup of coffee. Whether you just want to chat and get to know him, share a concern, discuss questions about faith, or simply need someone to listen during a challenging time, he's here for you. He will gladly meet with you at the local Kind Cafe, Dunkin', or Starbucks—his door and his calendar are always open, and the first drink is always on him.

Beyond the Pulpit

When he's not at church, you might find Pastor Dietmar creating beautiful stained glass pieces, running on the Isle of Que, or spending quality time with his wife, Sigrid. He also treasures visits with their two adult sons who live in Connecticut.
