Upcoming Events
Kickoff Sunday Church Picnic | Sunday, September 13 | 4:00 to 6:00 PM | East Snyder Park Pavilion
Come spend an afternoon of food and fellowship as we kick off our church year. We gather at the East Snyder Park pavilion on Sunday, September 13, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, right beside the playground so the kids have room to run. Bring your family and friends, and know that everyone is welcome.
The church provides pulled pork and rolls, lemonade and water, and homemade ice cream. We ask everyone attending to bring:
A side dish or dessert to share
Reusable plates and utensils, since we will have some paper and plastic on hand but would like to keep waste down
A lawn chair
Please sign up so we can plan for the right amount of food. We are looking forward to starting the year together.
Bacon Cheeseburger Night | Thursday, September 17 | 5:00 to 7:00 PM | Selinsgrove VFW
The Selinsgrove VFW is hosting a Bacon Cheeseburger Night to benefit our Loaves and Fishes Food Bank on Thursday, September 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Nine dollars gets you a bacon cheeseburger, your choice of French fries, onion rings, or macaroni and cheese, and a fountain drink. The evening is open to the public, so bring a friend or a neighbor and let someone else do the cooking. Loaves and Fishes serves neighbors across our community every month, and nights like this one help keep the shelves stocked. Turnout has been strong in past years, and we would love to see the room full again. Questions? Call the church office at 570-374-8749.
“We Are Still Here: The Anti-Doctrine of Discovery” Study | September 20 to November 1 | 9:00 AM
Many Christians have never heard of the “Doctrine of Discovery”, but its influence has shaped centuries of relationships between Indigenous peoples, governments, and churches. In this six-week study using the resources from the Justice Unbound organization, we will explore this history through Indigenous voices, Scripture, discussion, and reflection. Together, we will get a better understanding of a largely overlooked chapter of Christian history and consider what faithful listening, reconciliation, and action look like today. No prior knowledge is required, and each session can stand alone, so newcomers are welcome at any session. We will meet on Sunday mornings at 9 AM starting the Sunday after Kickoff Sunday: September 20 – November 1 (skipping the holiday weekend of Oct. 11).
